Gulay Accepted Into Three Renowned Art Organizations
We are pleased to announce that Gulay Berryman has been juried into or accepted as a non-resident artist by two of the oldest and most prestigious art clubs of America, as well as the national art organization which best represents artists who work primarily in the oil painting medium. “I am proud and honored to have become a member of these amazing institutions in 2019“ says Gulay.

The Salmagundi Club
The Salmagundi Club sometimes referred to as the Salmagundi Art Club, is a fine arts center located in New York City. It was founded in 1871 in the Greenwich Village section of Manhattan, New York City. Since 1917, it has been located at 47 Fifth Avenue. As of 2014, its membership roster totals roughly 900 members.
The Arts Club Of Washington
The Arts Club of Washington promotes the Arts in Washington, D.C.. Founded by Bertha Noyes in May 1916, its first president was Henry Kirke Bush-Brown; Mathilde Mueden Leisenring was among its original members, as were Susan Brown Chase, Catharine Carter Critcher, Lola Sleeth Miller, Bertha E. Perrie, and Mary Gine Riley. It is housed in the Cleveland Abbe House located at 2017 I St NW, Washington, DC. Since 2006, the Club has awarded the Marfield Prize, also known as the National Award for Arts Writing, for nonfiction books about the arts written for a broad audience.
Oil Painters Of America
Oil Painters of America (OPA) was founded in 1991 by Shirl Smithson primarily to focus attention on the lasting value of fine drawing, color, composition and the appreciation of light. Though there have been many national watercolor and pastel societies, OPA is the first national organization to be established for the sole purpose of representing traditional, representational oil painters. OPA membership currently stands at 3,400 artists.
